Three Freemasons from Old Lerpoolian Lodge No 9270 in the Woolton Group, led by Mike Cunliffe the Woolton Group Vice Chairman, answered a call for help from Headteacher Mrs Heather Austin from Chesnut Lodge Special School in Widnes. Due to cutbacks and shortage of budget the inner garden area had become overgrown and the light getting into classrooms was being severely limited, the staffroom also opens up onto the inner garden which was hard to use due to the size of the shrubs.
The friendly group of Freemasons cut down all the shrubbery tidied all the debris and removed the ivy from the two walls, the head was delighted with the result.
A return trip is planned to mulch all the shrubbery so it can be fed back into the forest area in the school grounds.
