The brethren of Eureka Lodge No 3763 and their many guests gathered at Litherland Masonic Hall for the installation of Richard Snape as their new WM. At the evening’s ceremony the lodge was honoured by the presence of Assistant Provincial Grand Master Frank Umbers as their principle guest. Frank was accompanied by the Ormskirk and Bootle Group Chairman Graham Chambers, vice chairman Malcolm Alexander and acting Provincial grand officers.
The outgoing and installing master Gary Melton started the evening’s proceedings by warmly welcoming the visiting brethren to the meeting before opening the lodge and after the initial lodge business was completed. Gary opened the lodge to the second and third degrees.
The director of ceremonies Barry Jones then announced that Frank Umbers was without and demanded admission. Frank was then admitted into the temple accompanied by Graham Chambers, Malcolm Alexander, accompanied by Litherland Masonic Hall Chairman Ian McKinnon and accompanied by the acting Provincial Grand Wardens, John Karren and Barry Dickinson.
Gary then warmly welcomed Frank to the ceremony and offered him the gavel of the lodge, which Frank gracefully declined. Gary then asked Gary Adamson if he would assist the lodge by occupying the chair of senior warden, Stan Edwards if he would remain as junior warden and Robert Bright if he would act as inner guard for the ceremony.
The master elect, Richard Snape was then presented to the lodge by the presenting officers Stan Edwards and Stephen Bousfield, and after Richard had taken his obligation, Gary thanked the brethren for all their support and hard work they had done him during his year in office.
The installing master Gary proceeded to install Richard, according to ancient custom into the chair of King Solomon. The working tools in all three degrees were presented in an excellent and proficient manner by Barry Jones. Once the lodge’s officers had been invested, the address to the WM was given by Stan Edwards, the address to the wardens by Geoff Carr and the address to the brethren of the lodge by Frank Umbers; all delivered in their usual confident and excellent manner.
At the end the ceremony of installation, Frank addressed the brethren by bringing congratulations from the Provincial Grand Master Tony Harrison, wishing Richard and all the brethren the very best of health and hoping they have a happy Masonic year. Frank congratulated Gary for the manner in which he had installed Richard into the chair.
Frank then proceeded to congratulate all the brethren who taken part in the ceremony. Frank had made a special mention about the two new entered apprentices who had recently joined the lodge, hoping that they both enjoy their future Masonry.
After closing the lodge in prayer and harmony the brethren made their way to an excellent festive board which was enjoyed by all.
