The installation ceremony of Aughton Lodge No 7996, which was held at Ormskirk Masonic Hall, was a very enjoyable event. Attending was Andrew Whittle, Group Chairman of Woolton Group, as the representative of the Provincial Grand Master. Andrew was accompanied on the evening by the Ormskirk and Bootle Group Chairman Graham Chambers and the vice chairman Malcolm Alexander.
The evening started with the WM Gordon Johnson warmly welcoming everyone to the evening’s installation ceremony and proceeded to open the lodge in a calm and dignified manner. Once the initial business was completed, Gordon asked Stewart Cranage to occupy the WM’s chair as the installing master for the ceremony.
The master elect John Wootton was then presented to the lodge by Charles Browne and Derek Westby. After Gordon had taken his obligation, Stewart then asked Mike Trigg to occupy the senior warden’s chair, Chris Cullen to occupy the junior warden’s chair and Charles Browne to act as inner guard.
Stewart then installed John into the chair of King Solomon in a warm and sincere manner. The working tools for the third and second degrees were presented by Derek Westby, with Charles Browne presenting the working tools for the first degree, all in an excellent and proficient manner.
During the investiture of the officers, the address to the deacons was delivered by Mike Dutton and the address to the inner guard by Ian Tupling. Once John had invested his officers for the forthcoming year, the address to the master was given by Derek followed by the address to the wardens by Malcolm Sandywell and the address to the brethren of the lodge by Andrew Whittle; all the addresses were delivered faultlessly and in a proficient manner.
The ceremony being completed, Andrew stood up and brought the personal greetings and congratulations to John from the Provincial Grand Master Tony Harrison on his attaining the chair. Andrew also congratulated all those that had taken part in the ceremony, in particular mentioning the excellent and sincere installation undertaken by Stewart assisted by the lodge’s DC Ian Tupling and the other brethren involved in the ceremony.
The ceremony now completed, John presented Andrew with two cheques, £750 for the MCF 2021 Festival and £750 to the Ormskirk Masonic Hall. Andrew on behalf of the recipients thanked the lodge for their very generous and worthy donations.
Following the meeting the brethren retired to the festive board to conclude an excellent evening.
