Kieran installed at Prince of Architects

Brethren of Prince of Architects Lodge No 4188 and their many guests saw the installation of Kieran Turner into the chair of King Solomon at the Litherland Masonic Hall. The guest of honour for the evening was Assistant Provincial Grand Master Frank Umbers, who is also a member of the lodge. The afternoon’s proceedings were started by the outgoing and installing master Stephen McCracken, who warmly welcomed the visiting brethren before opening the lodge. After dispensing with the lodge business, the lodge was opened in the second and then third degree. At this point the director of ceremonies Howard Minard announced the arrival of Frank Umbers, Graham Chambers and other grand and Provincial grand officers.

Stephen then offered the gavel of the lodge to Frank which he duly declined. Stephen then asked Stephen Smith if he would honour the lodge by occupying the chair of the senior warden, Stuart Irvine to occupy the junior wardens chair and Andrew McGregor the position of inner guard.

The master elect, Kieran Turner was then presented to the lodge by the presenting officer David Turner, the master elect’s father. Stephen then thanked the officers of the lodge for all their work and support during his year in office.

Stephen then installed Kieran according to ancient custom into the chair of King Solomon. The working tools for the third degree were presented by Samuel Houghton, the second degree by Barry Connolly and the first degree by Mark Davis. All three were delivered in an exemplary manner.

Once the lodge’s officers had been invested, the address to the WM was given by James Jones. Stephen was invested as immediate past master by Kieran. Paul Shirley presented the Hall Stone Jewel to the master and Stephen presented the warrant, the Book of Constitutions and the by-laws of the lodge.

The address to the wardens was given by Dr Morgan Denyer, and the address to the tyler by Paul Shirley. Frank Umbers then gave the address to the brethren of the lodge.

At the end of the ceremony of installation, Frank addressed the brethren by bringing the congratulations of the Provincial Grand Master Tony Harrison wishing Kieran and all the brethren a happy Masonic year. Frank congratulated Stephen on the way he had installed Kieran in the chair and congratulated all the brethren who had taken part.

Kieran then presented Frank with two cheques, £1,500 for the MCF 2021 Festival, £200 WLMC, Frank thanked the brethren of the lodge for their generosity and then presented Kieran with a Patron of the MCF2021 Festival Certificate, which will be displayed at the Masonic hall.

After closing the lodge in prayer and harmony, the brethren retired to a superb festive board consisting of roasted red pepper and tomato soup, tartlet of smoked haddock, crème fraiche and parmesan, mango sorbet, roast beef and trimmings and a white panna cotta with mixed berries, followed by a selection of cheese and biscuits with celery and grapes. During the meal a raffle was held which raised £60.

The brethren then retired to the bar, unwilling to let the evening end too early!
