The brethren of Kings Lodge No 3101 and their many guests gathered at Litherland Masonic Hall, for their installation meeting to witness Iain Beckett being installed as the lodge’s new WM. For the ceremony the lodge was honoured by the presence of Assistant Provincial Grand Master Robert Wright, as their principal guest, who was accompanied by the Ormskirk and Bootle Group Vice Chairman Graham Chambers, grand officers Fred Wright, Ron Elliott and acting Provincial grand officers Ian Halsall PrDGDC, Tom Bradfield-Kay, Mike Dutton, David Scott, Fred Dickinson, Russell Skidmore and Carl Mathews.
The outgoing and installing master David Dougan started the meeting by welcoming everyone before opening the lodge and once the initial lodge business had been completed the PrDGDC announced that Robert Wright was without and demanded admission. Robert was then admitted into the temple accompanied by the grand and acting Provincial grand officers. David then warmly welcomed him to the lodge and offered him the gavel of the lodge, which Robert gracefully declined.
The master elect Iain Beckett was then presented to the lodge by the presenting officers Howard Jones and Ian MacKinnon. After Iain had taken his obligation, David proceeded to install him according to ancient custom into the chair of King Solomon. The working tools for all three degrees were delivered by David in an excellent and proficient manner.
The handover address for senior and junior wardens was given Ken Bradley. The address to the almoner was delivered by Derek Midgley, the address to the deacons was presented by Simon Gray and the address to the inner guard was delivered by Gary Thornhill. Once the officers had been installed the address to WM was given by Ken Bradley and the address to the wardens was given by Geoffrey Carr. The address to the brethren of the lodge was given by Robert Wright; all delivered the addresses in their usual confident manner.
At the end the ceremony, Robert addressed the brethren by bringing the congratulations from the Provincial Grand Master Tony Harrison, wishing Iain and all the brethren the very best of health and hoping they would enjoy their Masonic year to the fullest. Robert also said: “If Tony was here, he would have congratulated the IPM, David, for the excellent and sincere way he has installed Iain this evening.” Robert then thanked all the brethren who had been involved in ceremony.
Iain then presented Robert with three cheques; £500 to the West Lancashire MCF 2021 Festival, £400 to the West Lancashire Freemasons’ Charity (WLFC) and £300 to the Litherland Masonic Hall. Robert, on behalf of the recipients, thanked the brethren for their generous donations to the various charities.
After closing the lodge in prayer and harmony the brethren made their way to an excellent festive board which was enjoyed by all the brethren.
