The brethren of St Luke’s Lodge No 6006 were joined by their guests at Litherland Masonic Hall, for the installation of Donald (Don) Fraser as their new WM. At the evening’s ceremony, the lodge was honoured by the presence of Peter Levick as the representative of the Provincial Grand Master tony Harrison.
Peter was accompanied at the ceremony by the Ormskirk and Bootle Vice Chairman Graham Chambers, grand officers Freddie Wright and Malcolm Alexander, together with acting Provincial grand officers, Michael Dutton, David Scott, Carl Matthews and Russell Skidmore.
The outgoing and installing WM Ian Gee, started the evenings proceedings with a very warm welcome to the brethren and proceeded to open the lodge and dispense with the initial business. On completion of this, Ray Barrow, the DC, announced that Peter Levick was without and sought admission. He was duly admitted into the lodge in a procession, accompanied by fellow grand officers and the acting Provincial grand officers.
Ian then asked Alan Parkinson to act as IG, Edward Carr to remain in the chair of SW and Joe Cox to remain in the chair of JW. Don was then presented for installation by Ray Barrow and after Don had taken his obligation, Ian thanked the brethren and officers of the lodge for all their hard work and support during his year in office. Ian then faultlessly installed Don according to ancient custom into the chair of King Solomon in an excellent manner. The working tools in all three degrees were also presented in an excellent and proficient manner by Ian.
The address to the deacons was given by Stan Edwards of Eureka Lodge No 3763, the address to the inner guard was given by Len Hudson, the address to the tyler by Harold Scott, the address to the WM by Ian, the address to the wardens by Simon Gray and the address to the brethren of the lodge by Peter Levick. All the addresses were delivered in an excellent, confident and proficient manner.
With the ceremony completed, Peter brought the personal greetings and congratulations to the new WM from the Provincial Grand Master Tony Harrison. Peter then thanked and congratulated Ian for the excellent ceremony and praised all the brethren who had taken part.
Don, in his response had the pleasure of presenting Peter with three cheques; £300 to the West Lancashire MCF 2021 Festival, £200 for West Lancashire Freemasons’ Charity (WLFC) and £200 for the Litherland Masonic Hall. Peter thanked the brethren of the lodge on behalf of the recipients for their admirable donations.
Once the lodge was closed, the brethren retired to the dining room for an excellent festive board, consisting of mushroom and thyme soup followed by braised beef with bacon lardons in an onion and red wine sauce, vegetables of the day, mashed and roast potatoes Dessert was poached pears with advocaat and cream.
During the festive board a raffle was held which raised £200 with the proceeds to be shared between the Alder Hey Children’s Hospital and the Walton Centre. The evening drew to a close, after a very enjoyable event that was filled with good company and lots of jovial fun.
