The companions of Ormskirk Priory Chapter No 4007 and their many guests held their installation convocation at Ormskirk Masonic Hall and for this occasion the chapter was honoured by the presence of Assistant to the Provincial Grand Principals Anthony Hall. Anthony was accompanied by Ormskirk and Bootle Group Chairman Frank Umbers, group vice chairman Graham Chambers and acting Provincial grand officers Gregory Pinnington, John Hindle, John Roxbrough, Mike Silver, John Wooton and Brian Griffiths.
The meeting commenced with the first principal William Hunter opening the convocation, with his colleagues Paul Dooley the second principal and Christopher Cullen the third principal. Once the initial business had been completed the DC, Andrew Clarke, announced that Anthony Hall was without and requested admission. Anthony was then admitted into the temple in procession, accompanied by Frank Umbers and the acting Provincial grand officers.
After he had been warmly welcomed by the three principals to the chapter, the installation ceremony commenced with the companions of the chapter and visitors witnessing Paul Dooley and Christopher Cullen being installed as first and second principal respectively.
The scripture readings and prayers were delivered by Terry Lee, the scarlet robe address was presented by Dean Scrutton and the purple robe address was delivered by William Martin, all of the addresses were delivered in a confident and superb manner.
At the conclusion of the ceremony Anthony brought greetings and congratulations on behalf of the Grand Superintendent Tony Harrison, congratulating the three principals by saying: “The Grand Superintendent hopes you have an excellent and enjoyable year in office.” Anthony then went over to the outgoing first principle William Hunter and thanked him for all his work during his year in office and for the way he had installed Paul into the first principals chair. Anthony then thanked and congratulated all the members of the chapter who had been involved with the ceremony on Tony’s behalf, for the excellent and enjoyable ceremony.
Paul then presented Anthony with an envelope containing four cheques on behalf of the chapter for charities; £200 to the West Lancashire MCF 2021 Festival, £100 to the West Lancashire Freemasons’ Charity (WLFC), £100 to the Ormskirk Masonic Hall Association and £100 to The Friends of Tithebarn. On behalf of the recipients, Anthony thanked the companions for their generosity noting that he considered it a magnificent amount from a chapter.
Following the convocation, the members and guests retired to enjoy the delights of the festive board, where they had a four-course meal consisting of pate, followed by vegetable soup, game pie for a main course and ice cream for dessert. During the festive board a raffle was held raising £125 which will be donated to charity at a later date.
