The installation ceremony for Tarleton Lodge No 7871, a lodge of the Ormskirk and Bootle Group of lodges and chapters was held at Park Hall Hotel, Charnock Richard.
Members and guests, including three visiting masters, came together to see Stephen Dunn proclaimed master for the second year. The lodge was honoured by the presence of Assistant Provincial Grand Master Robert Wright. Robert was accompanied on the evening by grand officers; Ormskirk and Bootle Group Chairman Frank Umbers and Malcolm Alexander supported by Graham Chambers group vice chairman. Also in attendance were acting Provincial grand officers Mike Dutton PrAGDC, David Scott PrAGSuptWks and Russell Skidmore PrGStwd, on their first official visit following their installation at Provincial Grand Lodge.
Stephen Dunn warmly welcomed everyone wishing them a pleasant evening saying that he looked forward to their company at the festive board later. Once the lodge was duly opened the brethren stood in respect of departed merit for long standing member Keith Wilson. A ballot then took place for Raymond West as a re-joining member of the lodge; this proving favourable Raymond was admitted and welcomed by the WM.
The lodge was then raised to the third degree and the lodge director of ceremonies James Wright, requested permission to retire from the lodge. He later returned to announce the presence of Assistant Provincial Grand Master Robert Wright who demanded admittance. Robert then entered in due form accompanied by grand and Provincial grand officers and was welcomed by Stephen.
Following the usual salutations John Simpson proclaimed Stephen as master of the lodge for a second year. For the proclamation, John was ably assisted by installing senior and junior wardens David Greenwood and Thomas Ryding respectively, with John Webster as inner guard, all under the direction of the DC James Wright.
The first and second degree working tools were delivered by John Simpson and third degree by John Webster, all of which were flawlessly given. The address to the brethren was delivered by the guest of honour Robert.
As the ceremony came to a close Robert congratulated Stephen on behalf of the Provincial Grand Master and wished him well for his second year in office. Robert also congratulated James Wright and the installation team on a fine ceremony.
Stephen then had the pleasure of presenting Robert with three cheques. The first being £250 to the Alzheimer’s Society, £250 to Mayfield School and £250 to The Friends of Astley Park School. In response Robert thanked the brethren for their generosity on behalf of the recipients.
Following the meeting an excellent festive board was enjoyed by all with good camaraderie and many new friendships made.
