Christmas cracker for the children

It was a Christmas cracker of an event at the Ormskirk and Bootle Group children’s Christmas party. Ormskirk Masonic Hall was once again filled to capacity with parents, grandparents, Freemasons and their wives, family and friends who were revelling in the excitement of 56 children thoroughly enjoying themselves.

All the young guests were happily entertained by children’s party entertainer ‘DJ Tony MC’ with plenty of fun, games and competitions. During a break in the festivities the children tucked into light refreshments provided by hall caterers Gary and Angela O’Brien all served up by Santa’s little helpers.

Tony then continued the party spirit by encouraging the guests to take to the floor for more fun and games which included limbo dancing. The children, encouraged by Tony, sang Santa’s favourite song ‘Jingle Bells’ which heralded the arrival of the much-anticipated guest of honour, ‘Father Christmas’, accompanied by two young helpers; who taking time out from their busy schedule preparing for the festive season, made a welcome visit to the hall. Father Christmas was greeted with a rousing cheer before taking his rightful place amongst his adoring fans.

Each child received a beautifully wrapped gift, selection box and a friendly word from Father Christmas. It was a brilliant afternoon and full credit must go to John Wootton, Stewart Cranage, Ken Hives and his hard working team of helpers; Don Carton, Debbie Cooke (expert present wrapper) and all those who helped to make the afternoon a great success.

Appreciation must also go to Gary and his hard-working staff for keeping the adults refreshed throughout the event. Ken and his team thanked the lodges and chapters for their support through generous donations, with a special thank you from all the children to Father Christmas.
