The brethren of Park Hall Lodge No 8375 held their installation ceremony at Ormskirk Masonic Hall and it was well attended by 42 members and guests including masters in office. The lodge was opened by WM Harold Thacker who warmly welcomed everyone and wished them a pleasant and enjoyable evening.
The lodge members were honoured by the presence of Peter Levick PJGD, the representative of the Provincial Grand Master Tony Harrison. Peter was accompanied by grand officers Roy Worthington, Malcolm Alexander and Ormskirk and Bootle Group Chairman Frank Umbers. Also in attendance were Stephen Brereton group vice chairman and acting Provincial grand officers Malcolm Sandywell PrAGDC and John Doyle PrGStwd.
John Glover, master elect, was presented by John Allwright following which John reaffirmed his obligation having been previously installed as WM in 1986 and was soon siting in the chair of King Solomon following an excellent ceremony carried out in a most dignified manner with great warmth befitting a Mason of Harold’s standard, having previously held the office of WM in Stanley Lodge No 1325 on two previous occasions 1982 and again in 2004.
Harold was ably assisted by his installing officers Alistair Frew senior warden and Graham Roberts junior warden with Martin Howell as inner guard all under the expert guidance of DC Andrew Killeen, who once again carried out his duties to the very highest standard. The music was once again suitably supplied by Roy Worthington on the mighty Wurlitzer, with his usual flair for picking the right tune to accompany the various stages of the ceremony; for instance, ‘Pick a pocket or two’ for the collaring of the treasurer and ‘Jesus Christ Super Star’ for the DC.
During the ceremony the third, second and first degree working tools were delivered by Andrew Cunningham, Tony Prior and Jorge Perez (WM of Wavertree Gateacre Queensway Lodge No 2294) respectively all of which were very well presented.
Stuart Cunningham presented the address to the master and also to the wardens and the address to the brethren was given by the honoured guest Peter Levick. The wording and content of this address was new to many brethren as Peter said later he enjoys being different.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, Peter brought greetings from the Provincial Grand Master Tony Harrison, acknowledging the good work of the installing team and congratulating John, wishing him a successful year in office. Peter also praised Harold and Andrew for the very high standard in which they conducted the ceremony.
John then presented Peter with five cheques from the lodge. £300 for the MCF 2021 Festival, £100 to West Lancashire Freemasons’ Charity, £100 to Breath Easy (British Lung Foundation), £50 to Friends of Tithebarn, £50 to Ormskirk Masonic Hall Association and a further cheque for £71 to Humane Research Trust presented by the Park Hall Ladies, making a grand total of £671. Peter thanked the brethren on behalf of the recipients for their kind generosity.
Following the meeting the brethren enjoyed the delights of the festive board which once again concluded a memorable evening.
